Internet Explorer hyperlink pop-up "Some files can harm your computer...." when opening a .xlsm file in Windows 7
Dear Sir/Madam, As stated in the subject line, I would like to remove this pop-up when clicking on files of this type in Internet Explorer when using Windows 7 as an O.S. In Windows XP i am able to remove this pop-up by removing the "Confirm open after download" tick under the respective file type in Folder Options -> Tools -> File Types In Windows 7 this option is not available. I then decided to try tweak the registry under Windows XP, i found the following reg key. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.SheetMacroEnabled.12 -> EditFlags (dword) value so i set this value to 10000 and voila, the "Confirm open after download" tick was removed and the pop-up was not appearing. The problem is in Windows 7, this reg. value is a Binary value of 00 00 00 00 and when changing it to a dword value and setting it to 10000 did not work. I also found an article where they said i must change it to binary value 00 00 01 00, but this has not worked either. Please help me remove this pop-up in Internet Explorer using Windows 7. Thank you.

Hi, Please refer the following to disable the security warning. 1. Start>Run>gpedit.msc>Enter 2. Under Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Internet Explorer set the "Turn Off the security settings check feature" to enabled. If you don't have Internet Explorer under windows components: 1. Right click Administrative Templates and click "Add/Remove Templates" 2. Click Add button 3. Navigate to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\GroupPolicy\ADM\" 4. Hold shift and highlight all the files that start with "inet"Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
